In the competitive advertising landscape, IDOTYOU is dedicated to crafting unique and impactful solutions for our clients, and our latest mission was no exception. When tasked with boosting traffic to McDonald's, we knew we needed a standout approach to make a memorable impact. For this campaign, we took a bold step by delving into cutting-edge CGI (computer-generated imagery) and transformed a beloved menu item into a striking centrepiece that's sure to catch your eye.

INTERNATIONAL FRENCH FRY DAY

When International French Fry Day emerged, it presented the perfect opportunity to celebrate one of McDonalds most iconic menu items. We decided to go larger than life and create the first-ever CGI ad for McDonalds Malaysia. The idea? To leverage McDonald's world-famous and most delicious french fries and make them the hero of this niche celebration. Our creative vision centred around the phrase, “Every potatos dream is to be world-famous fries from McDonalds.”

By focusing on this beloved product, we aimed to evoke a sense of pride and aspiration, not just among potatoes, but among customers who would be drawn to the irresistible allure of McDonalds fries. This approach allowed us to highlight the quality and appeal of the fries in a fun and engaging way.



Within a short period, we quickly went to work, moving from the planning stage to brainstorming fun and quirky names for combo deals. Throughout the week of International French Fry Day, we supported McDonald's in promoting a series of attractive combo deals, including their one day offer of RM2 French Fries.



To amplify the reach of our campaign, we collaborated with English-speaking and Chinese-speaking key opinion leaders (KOLs), who played a crucial role in promoting the deals and engaging with the customers through fun and interactive content centred around French Fries.



We used games and challenges to highlight the joy of sharing a box of fries, reinforcing the idea that a box of fries is more than just a box of fries. The games included tongue-twisters, guessing the amount of fries in a box, and many more. By leveraging the influence of these KOLs, we were able to create a buzz and foster a sense of excitement and anticipation for the ongoing promotions, driving even more traffic to McDonald's throughout the week.



THE RESULTS

The results of our campaign were phenomenal! In just one day, McDonalds garnered 50,000 redemptions of the RM2 Fries deal, making it the highest McD App redemption in a single day in 2024. Additionally, our CGI-enhanced ad garnered 1 million views, demonstrating the power and effectiveness of our creative approach.
